Why do Russians wait for snow to fall down?

Ski, okay. And ice-skate.
Or walking in the park watching huge tree leaves with piles of snowflakes.
What else?

This guy was definitely waiting for snow to happen. Why?

Okay, here's closer look.

Many Russians prefer snow-cleaning carpets over paying for dry-cleaning. They like frisk feeling of their renewed carpet. I remember myself in my childhood (now I'm not a lucky carpet owner anymore) kicking dusty carpet which was taken for a walk in a snowy day.

The only sad thing that makes me dislike this tradition is those ugly grey rectangles on the snow. Although it snows again sometime and they do disappear.
